British Values
Brant Broughton Church of England Methodist Primary School - British values
At Brant Broughton our choices and actions are driven by our school vision:
Our inclusive church school celebrates each person and makes sure that everyone is known and valued. An ambitious and engaging curriculum strives to lay strong foundations to prepare pupils for their lives now and in the future. In the spirit of ubuntu (I am because we are) we travel together, discern possibilities and act in hope so that each person flourishes.
‘For you are all one in Jesus Christ’ Galatians 3:28
We talk about them using our four key themes in all areas of school life.
Preparing for the future
Travelling together
Acting in hope
We understand the importance of British values and recognise how they compliment our vision and help us to learn how to live well in society.
The fundamental British values are:
- Democracy
- The Rule of Law
- Individual liberty
- Mutual respect
- Tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs
In accordance with the Department for Education, we aim to actively promote British Values in school to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law.
At Brant Broughton Church of England and Methodist Primary School, we are committed to serving the local community. We recognise the multicultural, multi-faith nature of the United Kingdom and understand the crucial role our school plays in promoting these values. We are a school for everyone.
We take opportunities within and outside the taught curriculum and in Collective worship to explore these themes.
